Short History
In 2006, Justin Rule started teaching an after school magic class and had no idea that so many Divine doors would open leading to HEADS UP.
Then Justin met Shannon Windle – a long lost friend who taught hip hop dance classes. She brought Vinny Smaldone (DJ Image), Heidi Wert (Capoeira Instructor) and Chris Torchia (Break Dancer) together. The vision was born to connect talented artists with youth… and youth with talented artists who could be voices of Truth, wisdom and encouragment in their lives. All the while, learning some pretty sweet urban arts.
Heads Up : Lancaster became an official 501c3 non-profit in 2008.
Uniting with local urban professionals with a passion to empower youth, HEADS UP has grown from one program to nearly thirty! We are after more than just safe-haven environments; we are pursuing character, integrity, heart and soul.
By connecting with students in their neighborhoods, churches and communities, we can empower them in their passions.
